The spectacular permanent exhibition "Universe of Particles" , which is fun and accessible to everyone, is located on the ground floor of the Globe and covers all aspects of the research undertaken by CERN. Based on an exceptionally innovative surround-sound concept, the exhibition provides visitors with a unique interactive experience on the human adventure and the technological and scientific achievements of the laboratory.
The "Universe of Particles" exhibition has been made possible through the support of Rolex.
As part of the Globe’s programme, the Foundation promotes scientific, cultural and educational activities, including conferences with researchers who are happy to share their knowledge, enthusiasm and projects. The programme also proposes debates designed to increase understanding of how research today will ultimately serve human society.
Depending on the possibilities and circumstances, conferences, workshops, events, shows and even temporary thematic exhibitions take place at the Globe. For information about the programme, dates and times of these events, please refer to the CERN site.
The programme of activities taking place at the Globe of Science and Innovation is proposed by CERN to the Council of the Foundation, which determines whether the projects are suitable according to the goals of the Foundation and the status of the corresponding funding.
Private initiators, provided that they are donors or sponsors, are also free to propose events to be organised within the Globe infrastructure.
The Foundation provides its donors with preferential access to fully-equipped infrastructure for the organisation of conferences, seminars, debates and symposia, for shows or for corporate dinners. A domed auditorium located on the first floor can accommodate up to 250 persons and is equipped with the latest technical equipment (sound system, large-screen projection system, high-speed webcast and internet accessibility), providing visitors with a unique and unforgettable experience. This open space can be easily fitted out on request to meet the requirements of users. Globe donors can use these installations in exchange for funding of the daily costs associated with operation of the building. They can also obtain on-site logistics and technical support.

The 1st floor of the Globe is a multi-purpose space and can be used for events for the general public and those organised by public and private bodies. However, these events are only possible if they comply with the criteria for use determined by the Foundation’s Council.
The Globe’s mission is to promote dialogue between science and society, in particular through scientific, cultural and educational activities, at local or international level, and the event programme should include a link to the Laboratory, such as a talk, a guided tour of the permanent exhibition “Universe of Particles” or even a visit of the site.
Since 1 July 2010, the ground floor of the Globe has housed a permanent exhibition entitled “Universe of Particles”. This exhibition is open to the general public from Monday to Saturday (from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm) and may be associated with certain events in exceptional cases outside those times.
The Globe may not be used by bodies or companies involved in activities related to the military, politics or religion or with companies that encourage consumption of tobacco or alcohol. Furthermore, sales events are not permitted in the Globe.
